Privacy policy for the Remarkit browser extension
Last Updated: May 16, 2024
We’re Remarkit, the browser extension that lets you make notes on any webpage. We built Remarkit with your privacy in mind, so this policy is pretty straightforward. No fancy legal jargon (well, maybe a little where we absolutely need it), just plain talk about your data and our promises.
All your notes are saved right on your computer using your browser’s storage. We can’t access this data, and we can’t see what you’re writing. It’s like having a digital notepad that only you can read.
Right now, we don’t track how you use Remarkit. In the future, we might add some anonymous analytics to help us improve the extension. If we do, we’ll only collect basics like:
We promise never to collect anything that could identify you personally or see the content of your notes.
Since everything stays on your device, your data’s security depends on your computer’s security. We recommend keeping your browser updated for the best protection.
Our extension isn’t designed for children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect information from kids.
We might update this policy sometimes. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top and let you know within the extension. We’ll never make major changes without giving you a heads-up.
Since we’re based in Norway (which follows the GDPR), we take European privacy rights very seriously. Know that:
If you’re in California:
No matter where you live, we respect your privacy rights. If you have questions about your data, just reach out.
Remarkit needs a couple of browser permissions to work properly:
We only use these permissions to make the extension work - not to collect your data.
If you have questions about this policy, reach out to us at:

This policy is governed by the laws of Norway. By using Remarkit, you’re agreeing to this policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use our extension (but we’ll be sad to see you go!).
